Four weeks until the next race and two crack headed coaches with a lot of unanswered questions, is a sure recipe for bedlam. Over the next four weeks don’t have any expectations for anything to run as normal. Lineups go down the drain along with convention, but hey sometimes that seems to work best. About the only things that Jay and I can guarantee you to happen before the Jack Speakmon are that there will be a 6k and a whole lot of chaos. But don’t be alarmed, we do have a method to our madness. There will be reasoning (no matter how obscure it may be) behind our insanity. You may not understand it, but that’s the point. We only ask you go out pull on the oar and let things fall into place. Suggestions any one?

possible date for the 6k?
It would be really hard for someone to do this whole letter varifying thing if they couldn't read the English alphabet. Although, I suppose they wouldn't really be typing in this blog then. However on the other hand, what if they had one of those keyboards with the keypad in a different language. It would be very frustrating for them to get their thoughts across when they don't have the correct buttons to push to verify the letters they see. But on the other hand, it would be just as frustrating for us to try to figure out what their post said if they did have the ability to verify their entry. What I'm trying to say is, kudos on the word verification system. That way we don't have to try to decifer any foreign alphabets.
Quand est-ce notre 6k
?
I like the fact that on crew all I really have to do is pull hard, row well, and follow orders. Life is complicated enough; I like the simplicity rowing provides.
I like coffee ice cream for a very similar reason, Joe.
I have one thing about this. No 6k, for a number of reasons:
1)You said pull hard on the oar, ergs have no oars.
2)We already did a 6k, and why not use those, I can tell you not much has changed.
3)You said there was a method to your madness.
4)We're not the girls team.
And your favorite
5)Ergs don't float.
Just my suggestions.
Jay, theres going need to be a talk. We aren't giong to an erg race this year! Now I know you didnt mention this anywhere, but we need to talk about it.

I concur with the previous two posts wholehardedly. Especially mikey's.
The word is "wholeheartedly." And I am NOT Joe. Annnd, I am also questioning the need to do another 6k (really, we're not the girls' team). But if you ask me to do it, I will do it.
And tell me, how many medals did the girls win at HOTO? How many points trophies did they win last year? Maybe we should be more like the girls team, without all the unrest and complaining.
Steve, that isnt fair, Kahn is already there.
the girl part that is
Ergs may not float but they are usefull tools in the sport of rowing. BTW, The saying is used to remember to row as if you are in a boat while on the erg, becuase if you can kill the erg, an erg won't cut thru the water at 20+mph if your technique sucks.
On the Erg race. I think having one at the end of the winter gives us something to stive for and lookforward to. Kinda show off what brute strength we have gained. And scare the crap out of the other crews in attendence.
Just my two cents.
Two cents never got me anywhere, but my five dollars says that more erg tests (one ever other week or one per week) and an erg race will bring a more competitive drive to erg, rather than dreading each time you have to see the machine.
BOUAJMZ!!!!
Steve, that is definately a reasonable thought, but I believe that after an entire winter of weekly 2k's, although we will get very used to them, we will be ultimately exhausted. That would really wear us down I believe. Now, the 6k question. Really, two 6k's is not a terrible thing at all in my belief. Yes they suck, yes I hate doing them, yes they hurt. But hey, doesn't an actual race hurt? A 6k is probably the ultimate mental test in this sport. A 2k you just go nuts for around 7 minutes. In a 6k, you have to find a way to keep yourself willing to pull hard for more than twenty minutes. It is great preperation for a race on the water, and a great way to get your mentality in shape. As tough as they are, I do believe that two 6k's this fall are not only not too much to ask, but are also a good idea.
To quote a great Anthrax song:
"What doesn't kill me makes me stronger."
And how bout PSU? WHITE OUT!
FA - Q PSU!!!!!!!!
PSU = 6-0
Pitt = 2-4
