I just found out today that the erg race we're attending this weekend has changed format just a little. Where there was no longer a points trophy, there now will be one. Funny that I don't find that information in the entry packet that was sent out.
Do I really care? Not really. There would only be a few changes in my entry, moving a two guys up one level so we would be in all events. However, it is annoying. Anybody want to put some money down on where the points trophy will end up going?

It is possible that the motives of the group were not quite so self-serving. What is the goal of winning a trophy that you have pre-determined you will win. Of course, that is only my point of view, b/c when I win, I want to be the winner, with no doubts in anyone's mind.
Unfortunately, other folks might not feel the same way... however, planning a contest or award just so you can win it seems very hollow indeed.
If I recall, last year their was points trophy at the TRRA ERG Race, that we did not care about. What Happened? We won it because we had awesome performances by the mens and womens teams. Also, last year at NA we had a pretty strong showing, with just the guys.
So this year, we have a larger and stronger team and the girls will be there. In my mind I think we can make a pretty good run at the trophy. Like my coach says "it's quality not quantity"
I suppose the reason I'm interested in a points trophy is the "team" victory it represents. Everyone got really excited after the TRRA last year and I would love to get that sort of momentum going in March instead of Feburary.
